linen

Our linen is made in Ireland. It has a great texture and beautiful drape. With proper care (machine wash on cold and tumble dry low or air dry), linen will last a long time. It is beautiful with the fine crinkles ironed out (with a warm iron), or worn in its just-laundered state. The choice is yours! Our mid-weight linen can be used for any of our garments except for the cowl-neck tunics and dresses. Our standard mid-weight linen colors are beach (off-white), black, red, and mocha. We also offer a lighter-weight linen in black and white, which would work with any of our tops or tunics (but not dresses or jackets/toppers).

We pre-treat all of our linen before cutting out the garment pieces. With proper laundering, your linen garment should experience little to no shrinkage.

tencel

Tencel is a natural fiber made with wood pulp from sustainable tree farms. Our tencel garments have been a customer fave! Our tencel has an incredible, weighty hand and drape – akin to four-ply silk – yet is long-lasting and easy to launder. Tencel can be machine washed on cold and hung to dry or tumble dried briefly on low before hanging. Tencel can be ironed on a cool setting on the inside only. As with our linens and silk noils, tencel can be worn year-round. Tencel is great for travel, as any fold lines from time in your suitcase typically hang out quickly. We offer tencel in two weights: a dress/top/tunic weight, and a heavier weight for jackets.

Our standard colors for the dress/top/tunic weight tencel are blush, cream, black, graphite, black denim, and indigo denim. Our standard colors for jacket-weight tencel are black, navy, wine, grey, and dark blue denim. We preshrink all of our tencel before crafting your garment.

silk

Silk is widely admired as one of the ultimate luxury fibers. We offer all of our tops, tunics and dresses in silk noil (or raw silk), which has the luxurious drape commonly associated with silk combined with a lovely textured, somewhat nubby weave. Noil breathes in hot climates, and it doesn’t wrinkle, so it is great for travel as well. Unlike many silks, silk noil is easy to care for. You can launder it by hand and hang or lay flat to dry. Touch up, if needed, with a cool iron on the inside. You may also dry clean, if you prefer. We also offer our cowl-neck tunics and dresses in luxurious silk dupioni, which has more body than silk noil, a textured finish, and a gorgeous sheen. Silk dupioni can be laundered by hand and hung or laid flat to dry. (We recommend flat drying for the cowl-neck garments to preserve the hang/drape of the cowl.)

Our standard colors in silk noil are cream, light gray, black, teal, and red. In silk dupioni, our standard colors are silver, sapphire blue, gold, ice pink, and dark plum. Other colors of both silk noil and silk dupioni are available by special order.

Cotton

Cotton is one of the world’s oldest natural fibers. We recently started offering tops and tunics in cotton flannel, which is soft, cozy, and warm. Our standard colors in cotton flannel are scarlet (which is close to IU crimson), gray herringbone, basil herringbone, denim blue herringbone, and a nubby textured gray. We preshrink cotton flannel before cutting and with gentle laundering you should not see further shrinkage in your cotton flannel garment. It can be washed in cool water and either hung to dry or tumble dried for just a few minutes before hanging to finish drying. Do not dry your cotton flannel at a high-heat cotton setting!

As of spring 2020, we are offering many of our garments in a gorgeous set of colors of cotton seersucker, which wears, washes, and travels like a dream. Our standard colors at present are white, black, black with white dots, and mulberry. Other colors are available as special orders, with a $10 surcharge. Ask to see the other colors we can order for you.

All of our fabrics have some degree of variation in texture and color that comes with natural fibers, especially the linens, silk noils, and silk dupionis. Those slight irregularities are part of the natural beauty of natural fibers.
